Preston vs Coventry prediction: Instant return to winning ways for league leaders
Key stats
- Preston have conceded in seven of their last eight matches, although they have only been beaten once during that span.
- Each of the hosts' most recent six matches has ended with both teams scoring.
- Like Preston, Coventry have played out several end-to-end games of late as seven of their last nine outings have seen goals at both ends.
- Since keeping five clean sheets in a row between September 20 and October 18, the visitors have only managed one shutout from their subsequent nine affairs but have won seven of them.
Correct score prediction: Preston 1-2 Coventry
While they have not had many of them this term, Coventry have responded well to setbacks and will be keen to get themselves back on track with maximum points here.
Frank Lampard's men will expect another tough assignment on the road, but we are tipping them to emerge triumphant this time around.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Coventry favourites despite recent setback
- HOME: 11/4 (3.75) – 26.7%
- DRAW: 5/2 (3.50) – 28.6%
- AWAY: 19/20 (1.95) – 51.3%
*Odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change
Coventry's 20 points on the road are at least four more than any other side, highlighting how strong they have been on the road this term.
A 51.3% win probability suggests the visitors are poised to get the job done on enemy territory once again. However, Coventry suffered a 3-0 defeat to Ipswich in their most recent away outing.
On the other hand, Preston came from behind to earn a hard-fought point against Wrexham, a result that saw them fail to win a second home game in a row.
Unsurprisingly, Paul Heckingbottom's men have been given only a 26.7% chance of securing maximum points here.

Most recent H2Hs: Coventry thrilled to have snapped winless run
February's 2-1 triumph saw Coventry end a run of 14 matches across all competitions without a win against Preston dating back to January 2013.
Given their recent form, Coventry are well placed to claim consecutive wins in this fixture for the first time since 2000.

Preston preview: Robbie Brady still far off season debut
Robbie Brady played 29 times for Preston last season but has not taken to the field this term as he continues to recover from a long-term calf problem.
Fellow midfielders Theo Carroll, Brad Potts, Jamal Lewis and Ali McCann are also unavailable, while Milutin Osmajic remains suspended.
Predicted lineup: Iversen (GK), Storey, Lindsay, Hughes, Offiah, Thordarson, Whiteman, Devine, Small, Dobbin & Smith
Preston's last five matches:
- Preston 1-1 Wrexham (Championship)
- Sheffield Wednesday 2-3 Preston (Championship)
- Watford 1-1 Preston (Championship)
- Preston 1-2 Blackburn (Championship)
- Millwall 1-1 Preston (Championship)
Thomas-Asante is one of three players in double digits for Championship goals this term, but the Ghanaian will not be able to add to his tally on Tuesday due to a hamstring injury that has ruled him out of the last two matches.
Oliver Dovin is Coventry's only other injury concern as the Swede continues his spell on the sidelines with a knee issue.
Predicted lineup: Rushworth (GK), Dasilva, Kitching, Thomas, Van Ewijk, Grimes, Torp, Mason-Clark, Rudoni, Eccles & Simms
Coventry's last five matches:
- Ipswich 3-0 Coventry (Championship)
- Coventry 3-1 Charlton (Championship)
- Middlesbrough 2-4 Coventry (Championship)
- Coventry 3-2 West Brom (Championship)
- Stoke 0-1 Coventry (Championship)
Player to watch – Victor Torp
Despite playing 20 games fewer, Torp has already matched his tally of direct goal contributions from last season with seven goals and three assists to his name so far.
The midfielder sat out Coventry's defeat to Ipswich but is expected back in action on Tuesday.
Registering a goal or an assist in each of his last three outings, Torp will aim to pick up where he left off.
