Latest transfer news today: Major Joshua Zirkzee update as Newcastle striker edges towards Bundesliga move

The biggest news of the day in English football is that Mo Salah will feature in Liverpool's matchday squad for the Reds' clash with Brighton this weekend, but that hasn't stopped speculation about the Egyptian's long-term future at Anfield.

Away from Merseyside, there is plenty of other transfer speculation to feast on. In today's roundup, we have news about Joshua Zirkzee's future at Manchester United and of a potential major winter outgoing at Newcastle United.

For all that and more, check out our full transfer roundup below.

Joshua Zirkzee is attracting plenty of interest from Serie A clubs ahead of the January transfer window, with the Dutch striker almost certain to push for a move away from Old Trafford in the coming weeks.

Although Zirkzee has enjoyed more playing time in recent weeks, the return of Benjamin Sesko from injury is likely to see the former Bologna man drop back down to the bench.

According to reports in Gazzetta dello Sport. AC Milan are keen to try and bring Zirkzee in on a loan deal this winter, with Massimiliano Allegri a big fan of the player.

The Italian giants will face stiff competition from Roma, though, who have held a long-standing interest in the player. Gian Piero Gasperini believes that the Dutchman could be the final piece in the Roma jigsaw and will do everything in his power to get him the Italian capital next month.

Eintracht Frankfurt close in on William Osula

Newcastle striker, William Osula, looks set for a move to the Bundesliga this winter, with the 22-year-old now well down the pecking order at St James' Park.

According to a report in BILD, a reputable outlet in Germany, Eintracht Frankfurt have already agreed personal terms with the player, meaning that all that is left to sort out is a transfer fee with the Magpies.

With Nick Woltemade flying and Yoane Wissa now back from a long-term injury, Osula is deemed surplus to requirements at Newcastle, so a relatively small transfer fee is all that will be required.

Osula nearly made the switch to Frankfurt in the summer transfer window, but the transfer collapsed at the last minute due to the uncertainty around player availability at St James' Park amidst the Alexander Isak transfer saga.

Chelsea ponder Anderson move

Chelsea are reportedly considering launching an early move for Elliot Anderson in January, as they look to steal a march on all of the other clubs interested in the player.

For a number of months now, Manchester United has been considered Anderson's most likely destination, but the Red Devils are reportedly prepared to wait until next summer.

A report from journalist Si Phillips has stated that the Blues are weighing up a big-money bid for the player this winter to try and snag him before United can make their move.

Whether such a move would force Man Utd's hand or not remains to be seen, but given the Red Devils' financial situation isn't the strongest at present, it could turn out to be a clever tactic by the Chelsea hierarchy.
