Manchester United have been heavily linked with teenage gem Kevin Filling, though their slow progress in getting the deal over the line has attracted unwanted competition from a Bundesliga giant.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Borussia Dortmund have entered the race to sign the 16-year-old AIK Stockholm striker – news which is likely to frustrate the Red Devils.

Sky Sports Germany believe that the Premier League outfit are still fully committed to signing the teenager, though the club may now have to make a serious move during the forthcoming January window.

AIK have set the starting price at around £2.5m, which is a price that will only increase should the Red Devils continue to stall in the negotiation process.

Crystal Palace face Marc Guehi reality check amid January window

According to the latest reports from Sky Sports News, Crystal Palace are only expecting one offer for Marc Guehi in the January transfer window.

The Eagles believe that only Liverpool will be prepared to make a formal bid for the centre-back this winter, with other major European clubs opting to wait for Guehi’s contract to run out in June.

Liverpool’s £35m deal for the England international collapsed on the final day of the summer transfer window, though with Arne Slot’s team looking to strengthen their defensive options, they may be tempted to have another go.

Should the Reds fail to get the deal over the line for the second time, they will face stern competition from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona once Guehi becomes a free agent in the summer.

With the World Cup just around the corner, Ivan Toney will be looking to throw his name into Thomas Tuchel’s hat by returning to the Premier League and once again making a name for himself in the competition.

Tottenham and Everton are the two Premier League clubs who are considering making a move for the former Brentford man, with TEAMtalk reporting that Toney would be willing to take a big pay cut.

The striker currently earns £400,000 per week in Saudi Arabia, with various bonuses taking that figure to around £500,000.

Toney, who is determined to play a part in the World Cup, is reportedly willing to accept wages in the region of £200,000 per week – a 50% decrease on his current earnings with Saudi club Al-Ahli.
